ORP Measurement and Critical Supporting Measurements to Drive Disinfection Confidence

Come join us as our COO, Ryan Flood presents a talk that is part of the Disinfect with Confidence: Online Instrumentation for Disinfection Processes Technology Spotlight Series. Ryan’s talk will demonstrate why measuring ORP during disinfection can be one of the most powerful tools in your sensor toolbox.

Takeaway:

Understanding of the option to use ORP measurement in Disinfection processes and the other critical parameters that are needed to support disinfection control

Abstract:

Effective disinfection requires measurement, analysis and control of the disinfectant. Too often operators simply resort to online instrumentation specific to the disinfecting chemical, e.g., a chlorine sensor for free chlorine or an ozone sensor for ozone. These sensors are typically expensive, require specific flow conditions, and need to be maintained regularly.

For many disinfection applications an ORP sensor offers a more robust, easier-to-maintain and less expensive option.

In this brief talk Ryan will cover:

  1. Applications for which an ORP sensor ought to be considered as a disinfection measurement tool.
  2. Practical guidelines on using an ORP sensor.
  3. Other parameters that every operator needs to know to measure disinfection efficacy (e.g., pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen and other oxidizing agents).
